Developmental & Beta Reading

As a hard working, self-published author myself, I fully appreciate that we are all trying to get our best work published without breaking the bank.

I love to support other writers on the same journey as me, and therefore offer both a beta-reading and developmental beta reading service.

Developmental Beta Reading ($4 per 1,000 words)

Some manuscripts need a more in-depth service than beta-reading alone can provide, but not everybody has the money or desire to opt for a full developmental edit.

My developmental beta reading service attempts to help you ready your manuscript for proof-reading without the need for a full-scale developmental edit. It includes heavy developmental editing, some inline edits, comments throughout your manuscript, and feedback on areas of your plot, characters, setting and dialogue that may need further work. I will work to ensure every scene is doing the job it needs to do, and help you make sure your story works.

Alpha/Beta Reading ($1.50 per 1,000 words)

I am currently closed to new beta reading clients. If you are still looking for a great beta reader, I recommend Flora at

Having a reliable reader who can help you make sure your manuscript is ready for publication is pivotal for most self-published authors, and many of us cultivate teams who are more than willing to provide feedback without payment.

  • I will work to strict ethical standards
  • Your work belongs to you. I will never share you work with anyone. All emails containing your manuscript and the manuscript itself will be deleted two weeks after the end of the project. Unless you have indicated you are sending me the sequels, in which case, the manuscripts will be kept securely until the series is complete.
  • Under no circumstances will I redistribute, copy, share, or make publish any material you present to me.
About me:

As well as publishing myself, I have recently acquired a Master’s Degree in Novel Writing, and possess a First Class Honours (UK) degree,  having previously studied English and Creative Writing. I have critiqued and edited the work of my class mates on both courses, as well as the work of writing buddies for over ten years. Over the last year, I have provided developmental beta reading on over twenty-five manuscripts ranging from a short story of fifteen thousand words to full-length novels of over a hundred thousand words.
